Education Reform

In 2002, the No Child Left Behind education reform package was signed into law. This law includes provisions designed to close the achievement gap, offer more flexibility, and give parents more educational options for their children.

While these are admirable intentions, it is the duty of the states, not the federal government, to educate our children. Ensuring local control of the education system is one of the best ways to maintain accountability. When it comes to making decisions that will impact our children for the rest of their lives, those who are best suited to make the decisions are the parents, teachers, and principals that work with these students on a daily basis.
