United Nations Reform
The sovereignty of the United States government should never be compromised by membership in any organization. While there are areas in which the U.N. has been effective in the past, the Congressman does not support initiatives which cede authority over U.S. domestic concerns or over U.S. military units to the United Nations.
The United States has, over the years, contributed a disproportionate amount of funding to the U.N. operating budget and for specific U.N. operations. As Congress seeks to be more responsible with tax dollars, Congressman Westmoreland will support cutting the percentage of the U.N. budget shouldered by the U.S. and also believes it is important to hold the United Nations accountable for actions taken which negatively impact the United States.
